Dr. Edwards

President & Founding Director

Dr. Edwards is an educator, advocate, and parent. As Founder of ICA, she had the vision to launch a private school over a decade ago to ensure high quality and creative education options that give all students the chance to serve as socially responsible change agents.  Dr. Edwards is a native Ohioan who grew up in Collin County.  She values the vast resources available in this area to cultivate tomorrow’s leaders.

Dr. Edwards has served in education at the secondary level as well as in higher education.  She has led strategic planning for one of the most diverse school districts in the country, led her local collegiate alumni association as Vice President, served as a science teaching assistant, teen mentor, afterschool instructor, and college professor.

Financial stewardship of ICA gifts is important to Dr. Edwards.  She has committed her career to not-for-profit work, has supported $1B non-profit portfolios, participated in a federal $500M value proposition project, and has reviewed grant applications as well as received grant funding throughout her career.

Dr. Edwards committed her heart to Christ at the age of seven, and professed it with water baptism at the age of 16.  She attends ONE Community Church in Plano. With desire to share her faith, Dr. Edwards wrote “Marriage: A Blessing and a Boot Camp” to support Christian wives and singles.  As a lifelong Christian, she also believes it is vital to integrate faith and practical skills into a competitive college pipeline curriculum.

Dr. Edwards earned a B.S. from Florida A&M University, magna cum laude; and Graduate Certificate in International Studies and Ph.D. in Health Communication & Culture with distinction from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She guest lectures on health and education topics nationwide, and lives in North Collin County with her husband and son.
