Academic Environment

Health, Humanities, & Technology

We follow a student-led approach with three academic priority areas:  technology, medicine, and humanities. The school guides students through personal discovery toward a collegiate pipeline to become a resource in the global community.

Our educational experience includes instructional strategies, curriculum design and development, events, camps, collegiate resources, and elective courses to support the priority areas.

ICA does not use testing as a metric of student intelligence.  ICA guides students in test-taking strategies in order to achieve our collective goals of connecting our students to the collegiate pipeline.  State testing is used as preparation for the in-school SAT/ACT focused practice that ICA offers.

ICA educators observe and guide as appropriate for montessori-inspired learning.  They create an environment of calm, order, and encouragement. ICA educators promote this type of student-led learning and help all students learn in a way that is most meaningful for them.

ICA educators help our students find their own strengths, skills, passions, and path through the use of practical and relatable materials.  We are proficient at leading from behind as an art to support effective learning.  We know when to intervene and when to step back.

Students require different environments to meet their developmental needs.  We aim to remove intimidation from the classroom and testing environment to cultivate a fearless connection with educational concepts.

Our educators create learning environments based on national standards and well as emerging needs that surface in the classroom based on students expressed interest and current events.
